We’re excited to announce that on 5 and 6 November 2021, Port Phillip East Presbytery will host an online a Songwrite for Uniting Church songwriters, with other events linked electronically around Australia. Songwrite was initiated by the UCA Asssembly in 2013, and this event is offered with their endorsement. The aim is to encourage the writing of contemporary songs for Christian worship from within the Uniting Church.
The event will be hosted on Zoom with multiple breaks and a range of meeting options.
The weekend includes input from experienced songwriters about music and worship, space for songwriting and collaborating, and the opportunity to have your new song scored, and recorded if time permits. A feature of the 2021 event will be parallel events being held around Australia and linked electronically. We so far have interest from Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Darwin. This will allow us to hear from songwriters around the country and also for wider collaboration in songwriting to take place.
Friday 5 November, 7.00-8.30pm (Zoom open from 6.30pn for meetup)
Saturday 6 November, 10.15am – 5.00pm
One of our key input people will be Rev Malcolm Gordon from the Presbyterian Church of Aoteroa New Zealand. Malcolm is an experienced and gifted songwriter and worship leader, and is currently completing a PhD in this field. He has been involved in previous Songwrite events. Malcolm hosts the website One Voice. His music can be found on bandcamp.
