“Pioneer Practice” Book Groups

You’re invited to join a four week conversation for people who are keen to start something new. Pioneers, or as we’re calling them, Mission Catalysts, are the innovators who experiment with new faith communities and contextual expressions of church. Many of them are not church workers, or they are not ordained. In PPE we’re fostering conversations, thinking and learning about forming new faith communities.

The book Pioneer Practice from the UK will provide the basis for the conversations. Pioneer Practice is full of stories, learnings, research and some frameworks based on recent experience. It was edited by Jonny Baker who was worked with the Church Mission Society in the UK (Church of England) and authored or co-authored several books about pioneering and fresh expressions of church and mission.

It is the kind of book that you can dip in and out of – full of short stories and articles, and easy to read summaries of research with pioneers. Like the minister who started a faith community in the local boxing gym.

The book and the discussion groups are aimed at people who see themselves as pioneers or mission catalysts or feel that they might be called to be a mission catalyst.

We’re offering three timeslots for the book groups:

• Mondays 1.30-2.30pm from 24 October to 14 November
• Wednesdays 7.30-8.30pm from 26 October to 16 November
• Thursdays 10.30am-12.30pm from 27 October to 17 November

The book costs $30. We have limited copies available for those who sign up for the book group. You can indicate on signup whether you’d like to buy a copy from us. You can also buy it online as a hardcopy or PDF.
